I am assuming the clutch & pressure plate was removed before replacing the ring gear.

Was a pilot shaft used to center the clutch disc to the pilot bearing when the pressure plate was bolted back to the flywheel?

One possibility is that the clutch & trans splines are aligned, but the nose of the trans input shaft is not aligned with the clutch pilot bearing.

Maybe depressing the clutch pedal will allow things to center themselves.

As Jack mentioned, the space between the mating parts should give some indication of what needs to be done.
