You most likely had/have the wiring incorrect to begin with. I suggest you get the correct wiring diagrams to start with, go thru the entire wiring system BEFORE applying power, and do not just try to connect the burnt wire again. Do it right. Don't guess. Take no shortcuts. You may have burnt up the points and coil too. Pull distributor, rebuild it, if you don't knowhow, email me, and get a new 12V coil so you don't have to muck with an in-line ceramic resistor. There is a ton of info in our HOW-TO's forum.
