Wow! That is unlike anything that I have ever seen. The Hupp lever, like you said, is horizontal along side of the transmission. And, most of us know what the Sherman Combination trans and the Sherman Step up or Step down look like on the other side of the tractor.
That is definetly a pre-transmisison unlike Howard or Auburn transmissions.
I'm wondering if maybe it was removed from some other application, or if the tractor was configured as a power unit for a special industrial or agricultural application and converted back to a utility tractor.
I sure hope someone else can jump in here. Learning something new.
