The #1 cylinder must be on the compression stroke rather than the exhaust stroke in order for the rotor to point to the #1 distributor cap tower. If it is pointing 180 degrees out, the cylinder is probably on the exhaust stroke. Turn it one more revolution and look again.
The Ford 6 cylinder engine used in Funk conversions was an industrial engine and was equipped with a fuel pump.
