I think you are referring to the light bulb assembly. That is the only thing I can think of that would require a screwdriver. The original gauges were not illuminated so a wire is not present to connect the light. If you want to connect them, you will need to run a wire from the light switch, stick the end of the stripped wire into the hole in the square post, then tighten the screw to clamp the wire.

The ammeter will have two posts with nuts to attach the C-shaped capture bracket and two terminals with nuts to attach the electrical wires, one from the voltage regulator and one to the battery. The oil gauge has the two posts for attachment and a center NPT threaded connection for the oil line. You will need to use the fitting adapter from the old gauge to connect the oil line to the gauge.
