Another thought occurred. Make sure it isn't leaking where the valve threads into the tank. A leak above will drip down and can look like a leaky fuel bowl. I had a fuel valve wiggle one time while I was messing with it. That clued me in that I might be trying fix the wrong place. Cork gaskets conform to fit and should seal just fine without any goo. I watched a friend take a pair of pliers to that thumb screw for the sediment bowl. Those should be no tighter than snugged with finger and thumb. Crank down hard and the cork gets deformed and probably cracked. A similar problem happens with stamped steel valve covers and oil pans. Over tightening deforms the steel and the gaskets fail where logic says they should be clamped tightest. If the fuel bowl won't seal without gasket glue, I suspect it may be another cheap aftermarket valve body or glass bowl that just wasn't made right.
