Kudos on your early 8N. What is the date code tag -located on the starter pocket? The 8N ignition key switch is located on the lower LH dash panel. New exact-as-original ones can be found at Dennis Carpenter (click on LINK) and Just8Ns. Part number 8N-3679-C is advised, the OEM cloth-covered wire style, not one of the cheap, Cheena made vinyl covered wires one sold elsewhere. I also highly advise you to invest in the ESSENTIAL MANUALS. You will want to know how to wire the 8N correctly. We have some here in our MANUALS forum like the 8N early Operator's/Owner's Manual and the 1949 MPC (Master Parts Catalog). You need the I&T FO-4 Manual and the 39-53 MPC as well at least. You will want to know all about the FORD 6V/POS GRN wiring system, the front mount distributor, Position Control, and a few other issues. The 4-Blade fan was mid- 1948 but not important as many farmers kept the 6-Blade fan puller. Either one is OK. Best to read up on manuals and go to the LINK for John Smith’s now archived “Tractor ID” Page sponsored by the Ford/Fordson Association –see LINK.
