Not JMOR here, but first, I don't keep score on who had what so a refresher is required on what you setup consists of. You say 'VR' so we can surmise it is an 8N, right? You don't need to keep polarizing the generator, once is OK if the all the wiring is correct, so that isn't your problem. Are you polarizing the VR with power? Yes? Wrong! You have something else seriously not right. Tell us what generator you are working with. OEM FORD 3-Wire/3-Brush, 11.5 AMP 'A' Circuit or the 3-Wire/2-Brush, 20 AMP "B" Circuit unit. You say you have a 'B' Circuit unit. Well if you are polarizing by arc-spacing the AWM and BAT terminals on the VR then you are doing it wrong. If you are jumpering the ARM to BAT
and you have a "B" Circuit unit, you are dong it wrong. Also, you need to ensure you are using a belt tensioner device on the generator. Finally,
