Thanks for your reply. Yes, I got new tubes. And I do have manuals, but sometimes the exploded views are hard to interpret, and sometimes they leave something out for clarity.

You must be up in Michigan around where my Dad grew up. Beet farming country. For me windshield washer fluid was a better choice than chloride and beet juice wasn't an option. I'm pretty sure these wheels will outlast me.

I got the wheels back on this morning and now am draining the transmission and hydraulics fluid. What's coming out looks pretty clean. I read the how-to documentation here about the compromises between hydraulic fluid and transmission gear oil. I'm open to suggestions if someone has a favorite. I don't think Sinclair is around any more.

BTW: there are two hydraulic systems: the rear plus an FEL. That system has a front-mounted pump and a different reservoir. That can use hydraulic fluid.
