Right you are. 3M 5200 marine sealant/adhesive works in those situations. Back in my shipbuilding days we even used it to hang stainless steel windows to steel or fiberglass superstructures. Bolts too but if one had to be removed the bolts came out but the window frame still hung on extremely tight and it took a heck of a lot of effort to remove it.
