Valve guide seals

Another question on my engine rebuild...50 8n.
Kit came with what I assume are valve guide seals, cant see what else they would be. There were no seals on the guides when I tore the engine down. Did all years use seals or would it just be a standard kit that I got and the 50’s didnt require them? Readin thru the “how to’s) it looks like the majority suggest using them on intake only (there were eight supplied with the kit tho).
My parts book as well as most of the manuals I have been reading thru make no mention of guide seals.
