I would look into why points get burnt up quickly as Bruce suggested before going over to the dark side (EI). I suspect it is in the wiring. Tell us how you have your 12V wired. By 'a stronger spark' is that because it is hard starting? Setting idle for weeks on and will drain a battery fast. Float chargers work wonders.
