Figure the cost of a new 12v coil ( $30) and a 12v battery ( $70) . Then figure the indirect cost have always having to charge the battery.

Now compare that cost to having your 6v generator rebuilt ( $85 around here) and a new 6v battery ( $80)

So, fix it: $165

Jury-rig it: $100

Is it worth $65 to you to always have to use a battery charger?
