Thread Insert Repair

I need to repair some of the holes on the centre housing; mainly where the running boards were attached. I think the bolts loosened and the movement mounting and dismounting the tractor over the years wore the threads down. I repaired the first one today; first time I have ever done a thread repair with an insert. Is it OK to leave the thread insert long like it is in the photo?
