Think about that Den. The effective "grip" is the length of the threads engaged with the housing. The exposed portion of the insert is not adding anything to that equation. It's just a heli-coil - all you have to do is nick the helix at the base of the exposed portion and it will fall off. A good pair of diagonal cutters will probably do the job.
