Interesting read, thanks for posting it.
The one I removed from my 8n was an 8 vane like in the picture and the replacement is a 6 vane like the picture. If I am reading it correctly, the post would suggest my replacement is original style and the one I removed was not.
Either way, looks like they are both commonly used so will give it a try.
