Should be easy to fix. If the push button is in place in front of the gear shift lever there should be a rod that extends to the switch at the front of the transmission cover. If the switch is missing then get a new one from Just 8N's and install it (after checking that the rod actuates when pushing the starter switch on the trans top) and connect the cabling from the right side of the battery to the switch and from the switch to the starter. Download the 2N or 9N manual from this site to get a clear picture of the mechanism. All parts are available from Just 8N's or Dennis Carpenter.
