That other forum should have also mentioned running the tractor very briefly to center the shaft.
Whu? Run it with no fluid?
No one here has probably ever done that. Except me. Those torque values that you have given all seem to be on the low side to me. Keeping the pump loose allows the shaft to center. Running it dry seemed a bit extreme to me, but then again, 1950's tech.
