My 8N will start fine but when idling, the engine will surge and then go back and forth from high speed to low speed. I have it throttled down but still runs fast. I put on a new carb and have it adjusted per the book. When I open the throttle to the mid-range the engine revs up well past the speed it should run at.
I think the govenor is not working correctly but don't want to take it apart without some advise from this board. I found the previous owner had attached the throttle lever and the govenor lever backwards. I correct this and it ran better but still has this problem
