I have a 6 volt, '54 NAA. While attaching a wire to the light switch, I touched the hot side of the light switch to ground. Since then, there has been no movement of the ammeter needle. I am getting good voltage output from the voltage regulator and the generator. I have 6 volts at the battery when the tractor is off and the battery registers 7 after a few minutes of running. With the tractor off and I turn the key to on and/or turn on the lights, the ammeter needle doesn't move at all. Also, after I start the tractor the ammeter needle doesn't move at all.
I have been unable to detect any amps when I connect the test wires from analog volt/amp meter to the 2 poles of the ammeter. It doesn't matter if the tractor is running or not, I still don't read a discharge or charge through the volt/amp meter. I thought I would be able to see something on the volt/amp meter.
I am wanting to make sure ya'll think that I need to replace the meter or could it be something else. Thanks in advance.
