When I get home tonight, I will look some more at this in the manual. I'm wondering if you don't need to back the threaded part out instead of having it fully threaded in. Just guessing there though. Does your's have the pedal height adjustment clevis along with the free-play adjustment threaded rod?
You can go to the archives link at the top of the NBoard and type in clutch adjustment and the 3rd discussion down has some good info on this. Probably some more of those discussions there in the archives will have good info too.
