Man, I bet it felt heavier than 2,400 pounds. Sorry to hear that this happened. You're lucky that it was just your knee and ankle.
Yea, get that neutral safety switch fixed. You should not be able to start these tractors when they are in gear. Also, it seems to me to be a good idea to always get on the tractor before starting. It's just a little extra bit of insurance.
