Just got a call very early this morning from the so called M/S technical dept. He asked me to please start my computer right away. Faked a local calling number too. Guess Y'all know about what I said to the guy. Used to get the IRS calls repeatedly too. Also the you have won the big prize you signed up for scam. I have received many e-mails and calls from the real Microsoft folks in regards to my troublesome a Surface Pro. I do know they call and when they do they are very clear about the purpose of the call. I also know that even though the tech that calls will work with you to fix the unit but the required fixes seldom last. I have made 3 1-1/2 hr trips to the nearest Microsoft store where I normally get good service. Just made the trip last Tues and they replaced my Surface Pro with a new one. Don't reply to phone scanners, only take calls from clearly identified MS people and only if you initiated the contact. Scammers can't be caught as they are able to post fake calling numbers and they are untraceable.
