I've spent several long days working to find the cause of stray voltage in feed lots and dairies. It can be quite the mystery.
I saw one situation where the cows wouldn't drink at the waterers because they were getting stray voltage. After about an hour of studying the dairy electrics, I took a chance of there being an underground fault on their cable running out to the waterer. Turns out I was right. Once I located the fault and it got repaired, no more stray voltage.
Another one at a feed lot involved two grounds, one at the transformer pole and another at a remote building where the employees could shower. Using a megger on the grounds we determined a difference of potential that was traveling in the earth and was noticeable in the shower plumbing.
