Tractor shows and swap meets for me will be only as a spectator. I had rotator cuff surgery last Thursday. My left shoulder was very badly damaged in a fall in February. I have 6 weeks with a sling, icing and very limited arm movement. Then, physical therapy for however long and no lifting, pulling, pushing etc. That takes me well into next winter.
I had spent the past couple of weeks preparing my truck, camper and trailer for the great fun of tractor shows, swap meets and flea markets. I even purchased a used car to use at home instead of unhooking from my trailer and taking off the camper.
So, prior to surgery, I had practiced using one hand to get in/out of the car and reach and fasten the seatbelt. I made a special hooked tool that gives me a cross body reach. It is easier to open and close the door and to grasp the seatbelt.
I have to adapt and modify. I've wrapped a paint stir stick with surgical tape and inserted it into the sling. It extends just to the heal of my palm to support my wrist. This prevents hand numbness while I sleep. I used to wear wrist braces at night.
Lastly, typing with one hand SUCKS. LOL
