Definitely nice to have a generator. I had a little 3k unit to help back in '13 at the farm when an ice storm knocked us out for a week. It wasn't much, but we had lights at least. The farm house is all electric. I bought a 6k unit that spring. I keep a avgas in the tank, start it up every fall.
