I think we already have socialized medicine with medicare and medicaid. And obama care. Socilized medicine and insurance reform are two entirely different things. Again why I said we have Insurance providers and Healthcare providers, two entirely different things. Most people seem to mush the two together. My insurance has more then doubled since obama care was introduced. More providers was suppose to reduce costs, but neither has materialized.
I also do not agree with all or nothing. I believe that there is an in-between. I think that our government should get out of the insurance business all together. I believe the answer is both government run providers (hospitals & doctors) and private providers (hospitals and doctors like we have now). The government run hospitals would provide hospital and doctor care for anyone who cannot afford insurance. The private hospitals would provide for those who can afford insurance. The savings to the government would be huge, and the crowds would be taken away from the private hospitals.
The other answer is guaranteed healthcare loans. These would eliminate the need for insurance all together. Which would not make the insurance industry happy, but would prove their greed. With guaranteed loans I could skip health insurance all together and just put 2 grand a month in a healthcare savings plan. After 5 years I would have 60k in the bank and if I get sick I can pay cash. If I get really sick I can spend my cash and when I run out of cash I get a guaranteed loan. Then I have to pay back the loan over time, but it would be no more then the cost of insurance.
