If Owebama had done this, rather than try to have govt. take over the entire healthcare system, Owebamacare may have succeeded.
The big risk with your proposed solution is that govt. can never rest with regards to grabbing more power over its citizens. I think it would incrementally continue to grab more and more until we ended to where we are today, or worse.
How about a system that is 100% privatized, with tort reform and open competition across all state lines, and with states able to compel insurance carriers to implement an assigned risk component like auto insurance companies? In order to do business in a state, each insurance company would have to take on a proportionate number of high risk customers (pre-existing conditions, etc.), based on the number of them in that state, the size of the insurance company and/or other fair and pertinent criteria?
