  • Dearborn Plow/Planter combination ID
  • I recently acquired a twin moldboard plow with a planter attachment... The attachment badge is a Dearborn 12-9 but I cannot find any badging on the plow frame itself... Any ideas/help in identifying this latest addition to my geriatric farm equipment inventory is greatly appreciated!

  • This is a Dearborn LISTER. you are missing the seed boxes and probably the seed plates. the spike wheels look like they came off a rotary hoe and they are used to power the seeds plates making them turn to drop the seeds. I had one like yours but had the boxes and instead of the spiked wheels mine had a round steel wheel with lugs welded on the outside of the wheel so that the wheel doesn't slip in the loose ground. the lister was designed to be the original no till planter.

  • HiYa Mark-
Here is the A/O Manual from the library if that helps. Don't know what you are expecting to find but most implements only had the DEARBORN Model ID tag attached with some having an extra one for the parent company like Pittsburg Forgings or ARPS. You might find the MPC in the library too - I didn't look.

  • Interesting... as you can see from the photos.... instead of being driven from an installed drive gear on the left tractor axle... mine is driven from a 'spider leg' wheel that sits on the ground behind the planter.... I am guessing mine then is an older model.... Has anyone here seen such a setup before?

By the way, I am dragging this behind my geriatric 1963 Fordson Super Major.... :)
