  • Front wheel 8N compatibility with NAA
  • I've got an early model 8N that somebody previous to me mounted a 5-lug 9/2N wheel on. I want to replace with the 6-lug wheel that is supposed to be on it. A neighbor of mine has a NAA with a blown engine that he wants to get rid of. Is the front end wheel assembly on the NAA compatible with the 8N without switching out the spindles? If not, are the NAA spindles compatible with the 8N? I've cross referenced the parts on line and it appears that the spindles are compatible. Additionally, are the rear tire rims between the two compatible?

Im going to do another post about this question, but maybe the folks reading this might be able to give me some advice.

A neighbor of mine has a NAA with a blown engine, hole in the block. I'm considering picking it up from him for parts on my 8Ns. I'm not really into NAAs.....is there a decent market for NAA parts?

  • Dust off your 39-53 mpc and look up the info. The 8N began the 6" bolt hole pattern using 6 wheel hub studs on the front. They were used all through the Hundred Series Models as well. The wheels and tire sizes don't matter, they fit all weather 4 x 19 or 5.5 x 16 -it's the hub hole spread that matters. You can pick up your neighbors NAA wheels and they will swap out on your 8N. And yes the spindles and parts all interchange as well. I'd see what else you can salvage off teh NAA if he is scrapping it out. Good, usable Original parts bring good money

  • The 4x19 front rims were both standard on the 8n and jubilee. The rear rims and centers are interchangeable between the two also

  • Contrary to some Ford Tractor publications and a lot of false internet chatter, 4x19" rims were never standard equipment on NAA's. 6x16" rims and tires became standard equipment on all Ford Tractors commencing with the production of the 1952 8N.

  • It says right in the owners manual that the 16" front wheels are optional equipment And the MPC lists the 4x19 front rims for 53/54

  • John is right. Starting with the '52 model year, Ford tractors came from the factory with 16" wheels installed. The 19" could still be obtained from dealers, however. The link is to a Technical Service Bulletin from Ford Tractor to its distributors and dealers that covers this topic.

  • I am fully aware of that, in fact I referred to the frequent errors in Ford Tractor publications. Those errors were common due to production delays in writing and producing literature. I worked at Ford Tractor in the late 50's and are aware of how things progressed, changes took time. There is a service bulletin stating that commencing with 1952 8N production 6x16" will be standard equipment, those bulletins were timely and factual. It has been posted here more than once.
