  • I just purchased 9N2433. There is no ignition switch. There is only one empty hole on the dash that is too small for an ignition switch. It does not have a spot on the right for one. Can anyone send me photo of a dash near my serial number or has knowledge of the early tractors? It seems that FORD early 9N tractors were in transition with ignition switches.

  • Here is a picture of one of my 39's.

    The ignition switch is to the right of the oil pressure gauge.
    The starter switch is on the left of the ammeter.
    Directly below the ammeter is the ignition on light.

  • My 39 is SN: 2433. It has no hole on the right or left for a ignition key. There is a hole for the red ignition light. It has both gauges. There is a hole on the left side of the cast iron steering column but it seems to large for a ignition key.

  • Forget your s/n. Might be a '39 Block but the rest says later 41. If your start pushbutton isn't on the LH Dash and the Key Switch isn't on the RH Dash, it isn't a '39 dash anyway. When they moved the key switch to the LH steering column, so did the pushbutton. If you go to my first post I link the switch you need from JUST8Ns. See PIX

    You need to get the manuals and fully understand the parts and when they changed. First, does you s/n has a STAR prefix and suffix with the 9N stamp? The original 1939 9N dash panel had, on the LH side, the AMMETER, The Start Pushbutton, the IGNITION ON Lamp, and a plug to add a light switch. The RH Dash Panel had the Oil Pressure gauge and right next to it the Ignition Key Switch. Below was the choke lever and knob. Later, the pushbutton was moved to the lower shifter cover and the ignition switch was moved to the LH steering column. As changes were made, they’d include wiring harnesses. You can get exact-as-original wiring from AGRI-SERVICES in NY. JUST8NS sells a ‘like original’ ignition switch for the early 9N dash –see link
