Tire Chains
We got about 8 inches of snow, on top of about an inch of ice and sleet. I have used my Farmall Cub several times in the past to move snow, but both it and the 2N simply can not get any traction in this stuff. Question, where do you guys buy tire chains for your Ford tractors.

Re: Tire Chains
I have two sets hanging on nails in 52641. About 8 miles outside of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Don't know the lengths but one set I used on my 2N, the other on my 860. Unfortunately I'm 140 miles from them. Think you are pretty well south in Missouri which would probably make them as far as Dean's. Actually, making some guesses as to where you fellows live, it likely is further! email is open Jack

Re: Tire Chains
I based my calculations on you being in the Popular Bluff area and he in the Clarksville area. With those, his are closer to you than mine.

Re: Tire Chains
If your deal with Dean does not materialize it's possible we could work out something later in the summer. Won't help you for this winter. I have a son who lives with a Arnold, Missouri address. I might be able to persuade him to carry a set that far. However I don't know when they will be up again nor if I will be at the farm before then. He is on a cruise at the moment so I can't even ask him now. Logistics! If interested, please email me. Address is open. Jack

Re: Tire Chains
Jack, Arnold is just about 40 to 45 miles from me, completely doable. And I doubt if I would get a set this winter, so summer would work. How much was you wanting for the set?

Re: Tire Chains
I found these on Craig's List. Here is the description: "9 feet 5 inches long x 1 foot 3 inches wide were used on a Ferguson tractor" I have no idea how long and wide a chain must fit on a 11.2-28 tire.

Re: Tire Chains
11.2X28 tires need chains about 115"X21". 12.4X28 tires need chains about 123"X21". Dean

Re: Tire Chains
Try your local AG tractor suppliers and boneyards. Retailers like Kubota, JD, CASE, CNH, and M-F, dealers will usually supply them as well. Place an AD here (it's free) as well and might get a buyer or two near you -where are you at now? Maybe work out a deal with Dean to pack them up for you and have them shipped UPS? I wouldn't ship via USPs. Buying new online may be same or more with shipping than another alternative. There are also fellas that will haul for you - look on the other site, you know that one that offers 6N manuals : > ) as they have a separate forum for that. A set of chains wouldn't be nothing to add to a guy hauling a tractor near you. Fuel costs these days is expensive these days thanks to Czar Josef O'Biden. Fuel costs will be high no matter where you go. Cheapest route might be to drive yourself to Dean's place...??? I plowed snow with my 8N for 35 years using Beet Juice, aka Rim Guard, for rear tire ballast an put 16" fronts on with the 2-PC front weights. Never go stuck. Tim Daley(MI)

Re: Tire Chains
I have a good set of ladder chains to fit 11.2 or 12.4 tires in SE IN. $125. Probably too far for you and shipping would be expensive. Tirechains.com is the go to place for chains. Dean
