  • Hydraulic Touch Control Slipping
  • Greetings folks!
My '48 8N runs great. The Hydraulics work well and shows no sign of leaking, BUT the Touch Control handle slips down and drops the implement. I'm pushing snow with the Dearborn snow plow, and I'd like to mend this dropping handle situation. Its started this fall.
What is a good procedure to begin? It seems like its more involved than just tightening a nut.

Cheers from Vermont, and yes..... its cold here.

  • Here's a parts diagram that may be helpful in repairing this:

  • There is a friction disc behind the handle mount and there should be a spring under the nut. The mounting plate usually seizes on the shaft so that tightening the nut doesn't increase the pressure on the disc. Quite often the mounting plate will be destroyed trying to remove it. For a temporary repair you could try tapping the plate in with a socket over the nut as you tighten the nut.
