  • Late model Ford 8N….may need a radiator.
  • Good morning all. I tried searching here with no luck. I have had my radiator repaired three times in the ten years that I have owned the tractor. This spring a leak was detected again and I thought it was the drain cock. I bought a new one and changed it out. Still leaking in that bottom corner. I have few options here to have a repair done. So, I have begun looking at aftermarket rads. I have seen comments regarding the fitment of these rads which are made out of North America. Can I get some advise regarding radiators and where to buy? Dave

  • I bought a replacement for my 48 8N from Just 8Ns, eight or nine years ago. The filler neck was brazed on incorrectly, so the winged rad cap closed about, but not quite 90 degrees from where it should be. I had a dickens of a time getting them to understand what the problem was, they even insisted it couldn’t be the rad, and sent me a new winged cap.

Same problem. I knew that because I had already compared their rad to my old one.

Ultimately they sent another rad, and it is still in my tractor.

The rad with the incorrectly installed neck is still on a shelf in my shop, as they didn’t want to cover return shipping. I suppose I could take it to a rad shop and have the neck removed and reattached in the right orientation, and have a useful rad.

Oh, and as I recall, the core is thicker that original, to give better cooling.

  • Best practice is to have your OEM radiator recored if it can no longer be repaired reliably.

Don't believe that there are any N series radiators made in North America.

If I was forced to buy an aftermarket radiator, I would probably look for a Clancy.

  • Thanks Dean. I have been looking. A neighbour here stopped for coffee today and asked about the radiator as it sat on my work bench. We filled it with water and could see the spot that was leaking. He soldered it and it is not leaking. I will look on line for the Clancy rad and keep it saved on my computer for next time.

  • I've only bought 1 aftermarket radiator, but had good luck w/it. Got it from All States Ag Parts.
