  • Ford 8n starter
  • Hello folks, I did a boo-boo and engaged my starter while it was still turning on my 1952 Ford eight in tractor. By doing that it broke the gears on the Bendix for the starter, the teeth from that is down in the bell housing, I ended up, giving some out with a magnet however, half of it is still down in there in pieces, so my question is should I or do I have to separate the transmission from the motor and get the pieces out or do you think I can still run it having space between the fly will and the bell housing. Thank you in advance.

  • I have just bought my tractor and was told it needed a new starter. The starter would just spin. I had the starter rebuilt and still sounds like it just spining. Bought a new one still doing the samething. I have replaced the starter relay and + side cable I have had the battery check and it has 650 cca. This tractor has be changed to 12 volt

  • If it was my 8N, I would just leave the Bendix debris in the housing. There are more than a few N tractors in use that have these remains inside. If you ever have to split her to do a clutch job you can then remove them.
