  • I went on Proxibid.com to view Mary& junior’s auction results and was surprised things were sold at such a low price. I guess the market for these old tractors is worse than I thought it was.

  • Shockingly low prices. I'm sad to see this happen to wonderful old equipment, running or not. Pieces of farming history not getting the respect they deserve. Such is life in this 2024 environment. I pray for change; I have no confidence it will.

  • Wow. That's a shame about the items sold so low.

Grandpa owned a Dearborn Wood Brothers corn picker just like the one sold. Brought back memories. I used to ride in the corn wagon what was attached behind the picker. I'd ride there until it was full. About 55 years ago. Seems like yesterday.

  • We had both the Woods Bros. combine with the engine and the Woods Bros one row corn picker. I'm 81. I had many hours pulling each first behind an 8N and then behind a Farmall H. Great memories!

  • I was in attendance and picked up a few manuals. With so much stuff they were selling in one day they did not wait around for bids. They went thru the lots quickly.

They did have a lot of nice pieces

  • It's the economy. Folks are worried about paying for their home, groceries, gas, electricity, etc. They do not have the discretionary funds to buy things they may want but not need. Here in central Virginia, it's hard to get $1,500 for a nice 8N. 2000/3000/4000 "worker" models are going for $2,000-$3,500 where they used to go for double that. It wasn't that long ago that the nice 541 you are selling would have brought $5,500. Mary and Junior really didn't have a choice as to their timing but now is not the time to sell if you don't have to.

  • Disappointing results for the sellers and other collectors.

Scrappers must have been in attendance.

    Thanks for the link.

  • It was interesting to see what the copper kettles and bells brought versus the tractors and implements. I would have thought that the Jubilee and even the non-running Funk would have brought more. The 3-point scoops sold for about scrap value. Disappointing for two nice people.
