Did all 8ns feature the fold out grills or did the early 8ns still utilize the 2n style grill?

According to John Smith's N history data, very early 8N grills still had the two holes for the Ferguson badge that were covered with brass plugs. His data implies, but does not specifically state that the 8N grills were the new design from the beginning.

I've had 8n5xx for several years and decided to give the radiator a thorough cleaning last weekend and expected the grill to fold out......

I believe the first 2500 8n had the holes for Ferguson badge with it plugs so probably a 2n style grill

It could be a leftover 2N grill. Henry Ford was notoriously frugal and probably would have liked to use up existing inventory.

If you are not the original purchaser, then it might be a replacement by a previous owner.

Hard to say. But, if you ever find out, we'd love to hear about it and I can ask Ted Foster at the Ford/Fordson Collector's Assoc. to edit the N History section of their site to reflect the updated knowledge.

Not the original owner, I do know it came from Tennesse to Indiana with a load of farm gates and used for a short time to move trailers around at a dealership. Guess I've had it around 12 years.
