Changing gear oil…which to choose.
1952 Ford 8N. I just checked my gear oil and it appears slightly yellowish on the dipstick. It has been about five years since changing it last. I checked at my local hardware store. They have five gallon buckets of two different ones. An 80-90 gear oil and one marked TDH which says hydraulic/ transmission I believe. Old memory? The TDH is slightly more. Can someone give me some advice? Thanks Dave

Re: Changing gear oil…which to choose.
Tractor supply also sells a 90 weight GL1 gear oil for Ford 8N and 9N tractors. The normal GL4 and GL5 series gear oils are said to have anti wear additives that attack brass.

Hi Dave, I've got a '51 8N and I've always run the Universal stuff from Tractor Supply; haven't had any issues with it, it's always run good for me. https://www.tractorsupply.com/tsc/product/traveller-premium-tractor-hydraulic-fluid-5-gal-t806391

Thanks Travis. I will stick with that. Too many unknowns with the other. Dave
