  • Ford Compact Tractors
  • Ford sold a line of compact tractors from 1973 to 1998 when they were being marketed as New Holland Ford after Ford sold their ag line to Fiat. These tractors were all made by a Japanese company, Shibaura. Hp range from 12.5 to 44 hp, with tractors weighing from 1200 lbs to 4100 lbs. Most of them were either 2WD or 4WD.

  • Those little Shi-tbauras were pretty good tractors but there's been zero parts support for at least 15 years.
If I was looking for a little import 4wd tractor like that I would look for an old Kaputa or Mahindrance. They still have pretty good parts support.

  • Kubota and Mahindra are good choices. Personally I would do LS, Massey Ferguson or New Holland, plus JD.

  • Just a bit of clarification. Early 1990s is when Ford sold their ag business to Fiat. Ford bought New Holland around 1986 or so, but got out of the tractor business in the early 90s when they sold to Fiat. Their tractors were marketed then as New Holland Ford until late 90s or early 2000s when Fiat dropped the "Ford" name and just used New Holland.
