  • These are just a few of the brands recommended for the Ford N-Series Tractor hydraulic system. New Holland supplies a pricey one, currently about $45.00 for a 2-1/2 gallon jug. N-H part number is 9624450 and specifies it meets Ford Tractor ESN-MC134-D specs. Pictured are two containers. The left one is from about 2003 and the right one is more recent. Next, TSC sells a GL-1 All Mineral SAE 90 specifically for Ford Tractors from 1939 - 1952. I paid $19.00 for a 2 gallon jug recently. For a few dollars more, TSC also sells a "Universal Transmission Oil" which says it conforms to the ESN-MC134-D specs.

  • Mr. Daley,

I have a 1944 2N, after I fixed a minor transmission problem, while cleaning the hydraulic pump though inspection holes, I noticed a missing pin. I removed the top cover replaced the missing pin. I am still waiting for my gaskets to arrive from Just 8Ns. I went to the tractor supply store near me (Columbus, GA) and purchased the hydraulic fluid. Unfortunately, the people who worked their were less knowledgeable about these tractors than me. I went ahead and purchased the Travelers Premium Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid. Is this the right stuff? I have time to exchange it; I want to put in the correct fluid. I was in a hurry when I purchased the Travelers Premium Universal Tractor Trans/Hydraulic Fluid. I have time, while I wait for my gaskets to get the right stuff. Thank you Sir,

    Abraham

  • How about this one? $54.99 but I only had to drive 3 city blocks to get it. Odd thing is it took the entire bucket to fill it up. Must have done a better job of cleaning the sump than I thought.

  • Hey Tim, good information.
I saw the TSC 90wt a couple of weeks ago and bought 5 cases. I think? I paid $55 for NAPA 5 gal mineral oil last year.

  • At $22.50 per gallon it is no wonder New Holland wants folks to use their 134. The 134 is a NH suggested modern all purpose, not always the best. The SMO SAE 90 was a Ford war years alternative from about 1940 to the mid 50's but not the only choice then either, not a must for N's. No need to get pricy oil, get a good gear oil that is yellow metal safe (another somewhat misplaced requirement but since it is available why not for peace of mind at best if you need it) or as also was an alternate during war years, 50W motor oil

Gaspump , Make that about 1950    Posted 06-08-2011 at 09:48:52 [URL] [DELETE]        [Reply] [No Email]

  • Change back to Mild EP 90 was made by mid 1950, not mid 1950's, sorry for the confusion, my error.
