Subject: Ford with Bombardier Tracks...in Antarctica?

  • I saw this picture on the weather channel's website. They had a photo album about Antarctica. The caption for the photo read: "Sir Edmund Hillary drives a muskeg automobile sled at the shackleton base in Jan 1958"

    Looks to me like an 8n with some bombardier tracks...but the lights are on the top of the hood?

  • Putting the lights on top of the hood actually works better. But it looks goofy so "most" guys put them on the sides.

  • The tractors were Fergusons, not Fords. There has been a very good article in the past few issues of Ferguson Furrows, the publication of the Ferguson Enthusiasts of America (FENA)by David Lory.
