  • 9n/2n oil filter assembly
  • Hello, I was changing the oil filter in my 2n and noticed there was no spring in the bottom of the can like my 9n has. My 2n has the spring in the lid (like my 9n) but in the bottom of the canister there is a a small cylindrical part on wich the filter sits. Does any one know which is the correct assembly?

  • Yours is most likely the correct one issued with your tractor ---not a part that got switched out often if at all. MPC's will often list the part changes but you need to know how to decode them. Ford part numbers nomenclature enumerated by the first module to use that part. For example, the 9N-10000 listed with the '9N' prefix denotes the unit was first used on the first 9N tractor. When a part was changed, it carried a B suffix which made the first one the A unit. If the part underwent a major change, like the 2N-10000 generator, it now held the 2N prefix. So looking in your MPC's can help figure this stuff out. Leave your canister as is and don't pet the sweaty stuff.
