  • NYT article on California farming
  • Today's New York Times has an interesting article on California farming, worth a look just to see the photos of the Central Valley, but worth a read too. "Itís Some of Americaís Richest Farmland. But What Is It Without Water?"

Just type in New York Times in your browser and take a look at today's paper-you will get this read for free.

  • Water is a big issue, and will get worse, IMO. WA has the Columbia River Treaty.
The Columbia is fed from BC Canada. It starts from the Rockies, and should supply plenty of water for a long time. WA, may become the food supplier of the future. Same for BC where we are currently having a record heat wave.

  • We don't build dams in California to create storage for the population that doubled since the last dams were built. We spend the money on social programs and we are doing a great job, just look at our homeless population.

Maybe the thinking is with limited water folks will move out (as they are) and the population will adjust to the water supply. Never mind the farmers don't have water and California agriculture is probably the State's biggest business. Our lib government has everything figured not and under control. NOT!
