  • Prayers, please, for my sister
  • My sister is entering Methodist Hospital, San Antonio, this morning for open heart surgery. Damaged valves from radiaton therapy for Hodgkins when she was 22. She is 67.
I am in New Braunfels and leaving in a few minutes to be at the hospital with my niece. It will be a long day.

  • Thanks guys. We were told that surgery went well. An artery bypass, repair one valve and replace 2 valves. In intensive care recovery for at least 2 days. Nurse said, "blood pressure fluctuation due to body having to adjust to new equipment". I had a thought but did not say it. I could use some new equipment. LOL
I'm staying here until Wednesday afternoon and then going home. My niece and her family pulled their travel trailer from Victoria to near San Antonio. She is staying at least to the week-end.
    Day to day after that.

  • Two years ago I had a triple bypass and a new aorta valve at Stanford, Seven days in the hospital and back home. Walk as much as she can and keep up exercise. I'm 76 now and ride my bike on a hilly 20 mile loop two or three times a week before breakfast. Some lingering small effects, but in general no problems. She should have a good outlook for the future.

  • Thanks, Steve.
Sister had a single bypass, repaired one valve and replaced 2 valves. She is starting to move with help.
I told her not to chase the young medical staff...yet. LOL
Familys scattered across the country make it difficult to visit. I plan to go back sometime next month.

  • John, your sister is definitely in our prayers, as well as you. Please drive safe.
