  • Computer question
  • Is it possible to download a Kindle book to a DVD or a SD card and save it to read later. Or does it have a life span installed in it and it goes away after time?

  • Just connect it to your computer and mount it as a drive. Look in the documents folder on the Kindle for the files for the book(s) you want to save off, and copy them elsewhere. Then you can open them in a Kindle app on your computer, Kindle Create, or copy them to any device that has the Kindle app on it.

Newer Kindle books can either be loaded locally or used directly from Amazon without downloading the book.

  • Hi Dave. I only download to my Kindle device so I don't know about downloading to other storage, but there is always a copy of what you purchase "in the cloud" (Amazon's servers). Changes are coming in December that will make older Kindles obsolete with regards to downloading new books but the previously purchased books will still be available on your device.

  • Do they stay in the kindle? Or do they disappear after a certain time?
Maybe I will have to buy one and try it to find out.
