  • New Ford has magnetic truck bed
  • Yep. Ford got a patent for a magnetic truck bed.
Supposedly this is to keep things from sliding around driving down the road.

Truth be known, that is BS. The magnetic bed is an upgrade to the magnetic rear axles used in the past.
You know, good for picking up the parts that fall off, especially with the current supply line problems and parts shortage.
The bed size makes for a larger surface area to retrieve items.

  • Wow!!!! The uses are endless! Think about it: Make arrangements with the clinic and do your own MRI's.

Now, something else comes to mind as well. If these things are natural magnets, how in the world will people be able to move them around? Or release things when ready? If they are electromagnets, then there is another power source to beef up. More energy usage.

And then again, what about the issues with devices that are sensitive to magnets? Credit cards, pacemakers, you fill in the blanks. It would be a shame to load up the truck and screw your pacemaker up in the process.

I think I'll stick with my rubber mat in the bed. That and a couple of bungee cords works for me on most things that don't actually need to be tied down.

  • Just what I need to hold my PLASTIC gas cans in place, or my PLASTIC garbage can, or my RUBBER-tired mower, or pieces of WOOD, etc.

Did I misunderstand? - Are the magnets to hold the BED in place? ...But, isn't that aluminum?

Just because we can, doesn't mean we should !!
