  • Pistol permit
  • I have decided to finely get my pistol permit here in NY, I've done the 8 hour safety coarse, Next there's finger printing, back ground checks, interview with our county sheriff's office and a bunch more paper work and fees. There's a long waiting list, I won't be able to get my interview with the sheriffs department til Dec. 21st. and I'm fine with that.
My question to you fellow hand gun / pistol owners is what firearm would you recommend ? I'll leaning towards a small cal. pocket pistol, Not looking for some Dirty Harry 44 magnum, " Go ahead,Make my day" "Feel lucky punk? " LOL

  • Hi point firearms is an American , mid west, family owned, company that makes economy priced guns. A friend has one of their 9mm pistols and likes it. Scott

  • Springfield XDS is a great compact auto. I carry a 9mm but you can also get it in 45cal. I also carry a Kimber Micro 9 with Crimson Trace Laser sights. Depends what kind of shirt I'm wearing and if I want to carry IWB or OWB. OWB is more comfortable but not as easy to conceal.

  • Hey John! If you like the Springfields, check out the new Hellcat 9mm. 15+1, great sights, great balance - a really nice piece.

  • The Hellcat was featured in American Rifleman last year. Be a nice addition but unfortunately we are only allowed to carry seven rounds in the Republic of New York. We thought things would get better once Cuomo was gone but Hochul is even worse. She's just another puppet of the downstate emperors. I went to high school with her. She's just a political ass kisser.

  • I really like the Hellcat. My wife bought one to replace her S&W Airweight .38 SPL after she became so intolerant of the recoil because it was wreaking havoc on her thumb and wrist. She stopped practicing with it and since she carries, that's a no-no. So, we went shopping for a semi-auto for a new carry piece. She tried the Glock 43 and another Springfield but when she put the Hellcat in her hand she lit up. It fit like a glove and she loved the sights. Brought it home and put all 16 rounds in the center-mass area of a standard silhouette target and she was sold on it. She now asks me to go out and practice. I like it so much that I've considered replacing my Ruger but it's really a tad bigger than a pocket piece so I'm sticking with the Ruger for now.

  • I have had a large capacity License to catty pistol permit for 20 years in MA.
I have a Beretta Cheetah Model 87 22 lr pistol.
It is a very well made handgun, and easy to use.
Ammo is cheap, and readily available.
    That's my 2 cants.

  • I carry a Ruger LCP in .380. My wife carries a S&W easy slide in .380. She needs the easy slide because of Arthritis in her hands. She has a purse with a holster built in. I carry inside jacket pocket, or pants pocket with a pocket holster, or in an ankle holster. We have 8 other pistols but these are the ones we like to carry.

  • Howdy #1, Izz and I have had pistol permits in NY for more than forty years. We used to shoot compition. I suggest you find a shooting club near you and get proficient with it. I would suggest a 22 to start with. Ruger makes a very good all-around automatic.

  • My everyday carry gun in warm weather is a Ruger LC9S Pro 9MM. I use a Sticky brand pocket holster and it fits the front pocket of my shorts or cargo pants. I load it with 124 gr hollow-point bullets.

  • You didnít think governor Hokum and the rest of the scumbags in charge would let the SCOTUS decision discourage them? I have been warning my son that they are coming for him the next time he renews his CC permit.

  • Dave, I didnít mean to sound paranoid, but I am concerned for my son. It may be too early, but I am wondering if the law that was just passed yesterday will affect your application? I see that they doubled the training hours and now require 2 hours range time. I do worry that they arenít finished yetÖ

  • The 44 mag didn't bounce off of windshields. Penetration being the desired effect.
What are you penetrating? Stupid Humans?
    Oh the shock!
Close or far away? How easy to hold? I have large hands and a lot of pop guns simply don't fit for an easy shot.
45 Cal is a nice item, a bit large but will stop stupid humans.
So the final analysis comes down to what fits your hand?

    Purses are for lipstick.

  • I myself prefer to carry a 45 colt, bit is a little on the heavy side for concealed carry. For concealed carry I use a 9mm caliber Sig.

  • I carry a Keltec .32 caliber. The lightest auto made. It fits in my jeans pocket, totally out of view.
