  • I have been researching how to get more HP from my 1977 318 Dodge. Cheap.
An iron inlet manifold and exhaust manifolds from a 360 Dodge Magnum engine, late seventies. These vans had the 360 and 440 engines as original equipment, plus the 318.
I am having trouble finding an original 360 Magnum engine. The engine and the parts are probably not worth anything. However, can anyone help me find a 360 Magnum engine from the late seventies. I would then need to confirm the items will fit my 318. Thank you all for any help. There is a YouTube video on how to get more HP for the 318 cheap. The above was his suggestion. He seemed to know what he was talking about.
Thank you. Island Mike. BTW. We went to the Arctic Ocean earlier this year in the van.

  • OK, Years ago I had a 1972 Dart Swinger 318 2 bbl. I found this article in a hot rod magazine on hopping up a 318 cheap, It said use 360 heads,340/360 exhaust manifolds, a 340/360 cast iron 4 bbl intake manifold and a aftermarket cam (Sorry don't remember which cam) I did all that and it woke up my Dart big time.
    Like was said, Find a car/truck with a 360.

  • Yes, that is the basic figure out how it is done. Fast forward a bit.
The original iron intake, will only accept the original carb. The new dual plane intake will accept different brand newer carbs like Holley and Edelbrock. A set of headers is not much more than iron castings. I am having trouble finding original parts. An RV spec cam is the best option I am told. So for a bit more money, I may be using a bunch of new stuff. Finally found a couple of guys that know about these older engines, and have parts sources.

  • Your best bet for that option is to find another entire vehicle.
Take what you need and dispose of the rest.
    Problem solved.
