BC, WA, and OR, are all similar. Most of the folks live West of the Cascade Mountains.
Vancouver, Seattle and Portland included. This is generally loonie left territory.
East of the Cascades is Kelowna BC, Wenatchee WA and not much OR, until you get to Idaho. I should mention Weed and Bend OR. This is generally more conservative. Also a lot warmer in the summer, and a lot colder in the winter.
Highway 97 runs East of the Cascades. Alaska to the bottom of South America. Thought I would add that. Central WA and OR is fairly vacant. Lovely country. An early member, forgot his name, lives near Tonasket WA. Has an old Dodge Power Wagon. Could be Wily Coyote.

Local politician said he would trade Boise for Eastern Or and I figured if I was in Eastern Or, I might have to start a grass roots not to send in tax money for a lack of representation.
I am a resident of the largest population county in Ore. Most of these people in this county believe that Oregon goes from the coast and stops and Mt Hood and goes somewhere down the I-5 corridor. They pretty much control the shenanigans of this state.

Eastern Washington state has the same problem.

California has a similar problem. The coastal cities run the show while most of the Central Valley, the foothill and mountain communities and the north part of the state are conservative. Lots of talk about dividing the state, including the State of Jefferson movement but, nothing will ever happen.

Here, there aren’t any adjoining states that are worth going to. Half of our population is in NYC and any place east of Albany has most of the political power. Some people in the western part have proposed breaking the state into 3 states. It will never happen.
