Retailers choke on their own woke rot

The chief financial officer of retail chain Target just explained — really, complained — that “organized retail crime” is to blame for much of the corporation’s dwindling profits in recent times.

Well, that’s what you get when you embolden the thug element.

That’s what you get when you create a new method of capitalism based on a woke culture that’s determined, despite truths and realities, to make victim classes out of classes that aren’t really victims.

And count Target as one of the many companies in America that have gone this woke route, doling out big bucks for causes that elevate social justice reforms over law and order. No wonder the lawless and disorderly have ramped up their lawless pilfering and disorderly stealing tendencies. They get by with it.

They get paid for it by the very companies they in turn target for theft.

First, this — a Washington Post headline from December 2021: “‘Flash mob’ robberies roiling U.S. Retailers, traumatizing workers.”

From Nordstrom to Best Buy, from Louis Vuitton to Home Depot, the “smash-and-grab” crowds have been coming out in full force in recent years. Can you say “defund police” movement?

Pretty soon none of the woke cities will have chain stores. Our city has only 2 major grocery stores in the city limits. All of the Home Depot’s, Lowes or any major clothing stores are long gone. The mom and pop stores look like prison cells. I have no sympathy for Walmart. We try to avoid going to them because of the poor quality and service. I used to joke to fellow workers that I would like to become a greeter when I retired, but I have seen where some greeters have been beat up.

Walgreens has closed six stores in San Franciso and Walmart just announced it is closing two stores in Portland.

Get woke, go broke!

Haven't walked into a Target since they became a gun-free-zone. That policy might be one of many reasons why they are going broke.

Do you think they might help themselves if their emblem and name were different? We were in Texas last week and visited my sister in the hospital. A sign outside the emergency entrance had a handgun profile with a circle and a slash mark diagonal across it. I read the sign. It said (not exact quote) persons with handgun permits shall NOT open carry in this facility.
If I hadn't read it, I would have assumed it said all guns banned. Real people!

Tar'JHay has the 6,7, 8? different restrooms for all the inclusive individuals.
Me? I believe I have been to Tar'Jhay about 3 times since they woke up.
About the same number of times I have gone into downtown Portland since the fires went out.

Reparations, one way or the other....
